"a brief message from the heart"

This was an entry for an annual letter writing contest held in Portland, Oregon to celebrate its friendship with sister city Maruoka-cho, Japan. The task was to "write a letter about the subject to my friend in 25 words or less". First prize was a trip to Japan for two to attend the awards ceremony. I won an Excellence Award. I was sent the application for this contest by my friend Cybele whom I've never met in person.

MY ENTRY

I have never seen your smile as you read my words
but I know you must
for I do when I read yours. Thank you.
